We are pleased to announce that our Fifth Annual Ceremony of Lessons and Carols will take place on Thursday, December 27th, at 7:00 p.m. in the church. (Holy Mass on this day will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m.) Join us for this spectacular evening of Scripture readings, Christmas carols and anthems presided over by Deacon Ray, our gifted parish lectors, and superb choir, schola, instrumentalists, and soloists. Hear the ancient prophecies announcing the birth of Christ, join with us at the manger and hear the choirs of angels sing, and rejoice in the text, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Join with us in singing carols like, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “Joy to the World,” and “What Child is This?” Hear anthems old and new such as “Christmas Day,” “The Beautiful Mother,” and “O Holy Night.” What a delightful way to bask in the glory of the Christmas season in our beautiful church!
Plan now to join us for a concert of sacred music performed by our parish choir and schola on Sunday, June 3rd, beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the church. The program will feature some of the “favorites” of the choir and schola as sung through the liturgical year. A light reception will follow in the parish hall.
Save the evening of March 26th for our fourth annual Tenebrae Service here at Saint Kathryn’s. Enter deeply into the Passion of Jesus through Scripture readings, music, and the power of silence. Be shaken by the sound of the strepitus, and moved by the washing and wrapping of the altar. Leave in wonder and amazement, knowing how great is Jesus’ love for us. If you have attended in the past, you already know how powerful this service is; if you have not, prepare to be moved to the depths of your being. March 26th at 7:45 p.m. in the church—don’t miss it!
