The first of the three Sacraments of Initiation, Baptism welcomes us into the life of Jesus Christ through the tradition of the Catholic Church. No other sacraments may be received unless one has first received the Sacrament of Baptism.
For the baptism of infants and children, parents make contact first with Deacon Ray in the parish office at (603) 882.7793, ext. 15. Then, we ask that the parents (and, if possible, godparents as well) attend a session on the meaning of baptism, the responsibilities of the parents and godparents for the child to be baptized (including raising the child in the faith and practicing the Catholic faith themselves). After this session has taken place, a date for the baptism may be scheduled with Deacon Ray.
The requirements for baptism at Saint Kathryn Church are:
1) the parents must be registered and participating parishioners;
2) one godmother and one godfather are selected by the parents;
3) ideally both, but minimally one of the godparents must be a fully initiated (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) and participating member of the Catholic Church;
4) the godparents must be at least 16 years of age.
For adults who may wish to be baptized or for adults who were baptized in another Christian denomination but would like to become Catholic, we refer you to the Order of Christian Initiation Page.
For additional information for infant baptism or OCI, please contact Deacon Ray Marcotte at (603) 882.7793, ext. 15.
